In order to keep in contact with the parents, we have decided to set up a monthly newsletter.

We will be letting you know about what we've been doing and anything that is coming up soon.

On October 31st (Wednesday), we will be doing all things Halloween. It would be great if the children could come to nursery dressed up in their costumes to complete all of the exciting activities that we have planned. Nothing too spooky!

We celebrated Shwmae Day today! We encouraged all children and staff to speak Welsh all day and completed some fantastic activities.

We are continuing to explore our theme 'I'm special, I'm me.' The children have really enjoyed learning about themselves and their community so far this theme.

Babies have really enjoyed printing parts of their own body on to paper using paint.

Toddlers have enjoyed making cawl to celebrate being Welsh!

Pre-school have enjoyed writing party invitations for their 'Happy Birthday' week.

Staff have been attending lots of courses recently, such as Playworks and Safeguarding.

The children have enjoyed also learning about Autumn, going on trips to the local parks and finding natural items. These have made lovely tuff spot activities.

  • November News letter

The children have been very busy making wonderful tea towels. The younger children have completed hand prints and the older children have completed self-portraits. The tea towels make wonderful Christmas presents. They are £6 each or 2 for £10. There is an example of one on the door in the hallway. If you’d like to purchase some please give the money to a member of staff. The last day that you can buy one will be Monday November 5th. The order will then be placed and we’re hoping for them to be delivered at the start of December in plenty of time for Christmas.

Our photographers are coming in on Wednesday November 14th. All of the children in the nursery will be having their photographs taken. If you do not wish for your child to have their photograph taken, then please notify a member of staff. Please also inform staff if you are putting a particular outfit in the bag that you’d like them to wear for their photographs. These photographs again make lovely Christmas presents, and there are a variety of different photo packages available.

We will be raising money for Children in Need on Friday November 16th. We are asking everyone to come to nursery wearing pyjamas and to bring in a £1 to pop in to our Pudsey box. We will be completing lots of fun activities with the children during the day.

The children will be completing their current theme of 'I'm special, I’m me’ until November 19th, and then we will be starting our Christmas theme! Both the children and staff are very excited. We’ve been looking in to lots of fun and exciting activities to complete during the theme of Christmas. I’m sure you will hear all about them at the end of each day!

    Christmas at Abacus!

We have lots of fun and festive activities planned for the coming weeks to Christmas. We are all very excited.

We will be celebrating Christmas with a party week at Abacus December 17th-21st. Christmas jumpers and costumes are welcome throughout party week.

We are closing at 4pm on Monday December 24th, we will also be closed on Tuesday December 25th, Wednesday 26th and Tuesday January 1st.

If your child won't be attending nursery over the Christmas period then could you please let us know, so that we can authorise staff annual leave.

Our new theme from January will be Healthy, happy me! We will be learning about our emotions, our rights, healthy living, and ways of raising our self-esteem.

    What’s new at Abacus

We have recently started Yoga sessions for the pre-school children and older toddlers. The children and staff are really enjoying their weekly yoga.

So far this year we have achieved the Gold Snack Award, Healthy Body, Happy Me Award, and a Nutrition Award.

We also working towards our Quality for All Award, and our Health Pre-schools Award.

Both the staff and children have really enjoyed these and have worked very hard to achieve them.

We would be grateful if you are able to bring in items for us to donate to Matt’s café. This is a charity that supports homeless and vulnerable people in Swansea. They are looking for the following items: tins, jars, dried food, salt, tea, coffee, herbs and spices, toothpaste, tooth brushes, sanitary items, lip balms, deodorant sprays, new socks and gloves, and cereals. Please could you bring these in by December 17th, so we can take some of the children down to donate the items.
